This article explains how to complete Key Filter Mapping, which is a required step when setting up Data Collaboration features as well as MAT reporting.
What is Key Filter Mapping?
The Key Filter Mapping page is a required step when completing Sisra Data Collaboration / MAT reporting setup and involves mapping your imported student data filters to 'Sisra Key Filters' for like-for-like comparisons in the collaborative Headline figures.
The Sisra key filters available to map are Disadvantaged, Gender, and SEN, and each of these must be completed for your school’s figures to be included in that year’s Data Collaboration, and also to access the collaborative figures in the reports. This is available to set up in 17/18 Leavers through to current year 10 cohorts (and enabled for current year 9 during the Summer term).
Once you have opted into the latest Data Collaboration event, and the Data Collaboration set up has been completed, this will allow you to view your school’s Headline figures compared to the selected Exams collaborative figures, broken down by either of these filters (as demonstrated in the screenshot below), alongside other Data Collaboration report features.
Setting Up Key Filter Mapping
To access the Key Filter Mapping page, you must first opt in to the latest collaboration event via CONFIG. > Data Collaboration > Click ‘Exams’ next to the latest cohort.
Once you have opted in, the Key Filter Mapping page will be available for 17/18 through to current year 10 cohorts by going to DATA > select KS3/4 & cohort > STUDENTS > Key Filter Mapping, as shown on the screenshot below:
This will display the three Sisra key filters available to map; Disadvantaged, Gender, and SEN. To map these to your school filters, click into the filter name.
This will then display drop downs which can be used to map your key filters, each of which are explained in more detail for specific scenarios below:
1 / If you have a student data filter available for the selected Sisra key filter
If you have a filter available for the selected key filter, select this in the ‘Use the values from the Student Data Filter’ dropdown on the left. Once selected, you will be presented with a list of your school filter values underneath. This will then allow you to map each value to the associated SISRA filter value in the dropdowns below.
For example, the screenshot below shows our school filter values “N” for Non-Disadvantaged students and “Y” for Disadvantaged students. This allows us to map “N” to ‘Other – Not Disadvantaged’ and “Y” to ‘Disadvantaged’.
Q: What are my options if I do not have a Disadvantaged filter? A: We would recommend double checking which students would be considered ‘Disadvantaged’ in your school, and creating an additional student data filter in order to import this within your student data files. For more information on how the DfE define disadvantaged students, see our article - FAQ - How does the DfE define Disadvantaged students? (Admin). Or, for more information on creating student data filters, see our articles below: |
2 / If all or no students are classed as a specific filter value
If all of your students, or none of your students, fall under a specific filter value, select the appropriate option in the ‘All of the students in this cohort are’ dropdown on the right.
For example, the screenshot below shows all students linked to “Male” Gender, which could be used for an all-boys school.
3 / If your school does not report to the DfE
If your school does not report to the DfE and you do not wish to map your students to ANY filter values, select “Do Not Include” in the ‘All of the students in this cohort are’ dropdown on the right. This option is only available for non-DfE schools, and will ensure the collaborative breakdown functionality is not available for this filter in the reports.
