When uploading grade files, Analytics will expect the format of your grades to be the same as the official grades shown when creating your grade method. For example, if you are creating a grade method for a double award BTEC (indicated by the size), Analytics will expect your grade files to contain double grades, such as D*D*, DD, MM, PP, etc. If you were then to upload single grades for these qualifications (for example, a D* rather than D*D*), the grade would not be recognised.
Therefore, if you collect single grades in school for double, triple, or quad awards, we recommend including alternative upload values in your grade method, so that both official and single grades are accepted. Then, when single grades are uploaded, they will be automatically doubled, tripled, or quadrupled, where appropriate.
In order to do this, you would need to specify this in step 5 of creating a grade method. To do this, tick ‘Include alternative upload values’, then enter single grades next to each duplicate double, triple, or quad grade. As you can see in the screenshot below, we have left the split grades (such as D*D, DM, etc.) blank.
Analytics will then accept the official or single grades within your files. For example, in the case above, both a D*D* and D* would be recognised, and a D* would be treated as the equivalent of a D*D* towards calculations. You can then click ‘Next’ and continue with the remainder of your grade method setup.
