What does the ‘Project’ functionality do?
If you click ‘Project’ under the Dataset tab in the KS3/4 reports, this will recalculate the figures within that report based on Sisra Basic Projections.
Sisra Basic Projections (SBP) allow schools to see the grades that students might achieve at the end of KS4 and therefore their contribution towards school Headline figures, based on their current attainment and expected grades. These can be produced within any report that is NOT linked with the KS4 Exams term. SBPs are not intended to provide an accurate reflection of the final figures for the cohort, however they may be useful to identify potential areas for intervention as early as possible.
The expected grades displayed are entered by a Sisra Administrator at your school. |
What analysis does the Project functionality provide?
If you are working in a report that has been published with SBP, the Project functionality will be available on every report view. Below we have included a number of examples of the analysis this could provide:
-
Headlines Analysis
Applying the Project functionality on the Headlines Summary report could provide an idea of how the Headline performance measures may look when the students reach the end of KS4. This could be used as a springboard for investigation, rather than providing a realistic estimate of the future figures.
-
Faculty, Qualification or Class Analysis
By applying the Project functionality in the Grades Area – Overview Report at Faculties, Qualifications, or Classes Level, this allows you to view a breakdown of each projected grade per qualification.
-
On Track Analysis
Applying the ‘On Track’ filters in the top right of the reports will allow you to filter by students either above, on or below track to achieve their expected grades for that term. This will compare the student’s projected grade within the term you’re working with, with their projected end of KS4 grade.
-
Grade Analysis
To view the grades that have been projected for each student within a specific qualification, go to Grades Area – Grade List Report, then select a qualification in the Qualification dropdown. This report will display each student’s projected grade in the Grade column. The EAP Grade column will now display each student’s expected end of KS4 grade, rather than the expected grade for the term you’re working in.
The colour coding shown in the Grade column indicates whether students are above, on or below track to achieve their expected end of KS4 grade, as shown in the EAP Grade column.
-
Student Analysis.
When applying the Project functionality on the Student Detail Area – Overview Report, this will allow you to view the selected students projected grades in each of their qualifications.
For example, the screenshot below is for a student in our Y10 Autumn assessment without Project applied. This shows that at the start of Y10, this student is performing at a grade 2+ in Art. Based on their EAP Baseline of 4=, they are expected to achieve a 3-, which means they are below track.
When Project is selected, this recalculates the report using this student’s projected grades if they continued on the pathway they’re currently on (e.g. based on the 2+ grade for Art). This suggests that at the end of KS4, this student is projected to achieve a grade 3 in Art. Their EAP Baseline has remained the same at a 4=, however their EAP Grade of 4 now reflects their expected end of KS4 grade. This shows this student is performing below track to achieve their projected end of KS4 grade.
Compare With another Report
The Compare functionality can be used to compare a projected report to either the original report, to identify where the differences lie, or to an original or projected data set or assessment.
To do this, click Dataset tab > Compare dropdown, then click either V to view an original report or P to view a projected report next to the desired data set or assessment.
In the example below, we are currently viewing the projected Y11 Autumn report. Using the Compare dropdown, this can be compared to the original Y11 Autumn report, to view the differences in these figures.
Alternatively, we could compare this to our KS4 Targets report to compare the projected grades with the Targets our school has set. This could allow you to identify which performance measures are projected to be above or below target, and you can drill down into the measure to identify why this may be. In the example below, our projected Progress 8 score is -0.304, whereas this is -0.163 based on our end of KS4 Targets, so this would need to be investigated.
