There are two different options for viewing figures on, above, or below target in KS5 reports. This article will explain both options so that you can select the one that is right for your school.
- Option 1 - View on, above, below target figures by using the 'Compare with' feature and comparing your current data set with your 'Targets' data set.
- Option 2 - Utilise the On Track feature (this will only provide the desired figures if your EAPs have been set up to use Targets as the EAP Baseline by your Sisra Admin and expected grades have been entered).
To view the figures for how many students are on, above, or below target in each qualification, go to REPORTS, select KS5, and open the 'Grade Analysis' report for the data set that you wish to view. Select the 'On Track' view and group the report data by 'Qualifications', as shown below.
Option 1 / Using the 'Compare with' Feature
To view the on, above, or below target figures, click on 'Add Compare' under the 'Compare with' heading and select the Targets data set from the dropdown. You can then select whether you would like the columns to display Compare figures (displays the figures from the comparison data set), the Diff figures (displays the difference between the current data set and the comparison data set), or Both. Then click 'Apply'.
Additional columns will then be added to the report displaying the type of comparison data that you selected for each figure in the report (you may need to scroll to the far right of the report).
If you scroll to the rightmost columns, you can see that there are also 5 additional columns that have been added, as shown here. |
These columns will display how many students have achieved grades that are above or equal to, above, equal to, or below the grades in the comparison data set, which in this case would be the grades they were targeted to achieve. The final 'No Compare Grade' column will display the count or percentage of grades for each qualification that do not have a comparison grade in the data set you are comparing with.
For example, in the screenshot below, you can see that for the BTEC Science qualification, 37.5% of students are achieving above their target grade, 18.8% are on target, and 43.8% are below their targeted grade.
You could view these figures as a percentage of students who are on, above, or below target rather than a number. To do this, click the Count-Percent toggle to Percent in the 'Options' section. |
If desired, you could then click into the name of the qualification to see this detail at a class level to see which class has the most students who are performing above or below target.
If you wanted to see the actual grades being achieved by each student compared to what grade they were targeted, you can then click into Qualification then the Class name (or click on Summary to view all students for that qualification) to see the student list. The 'Grade' column will then display the student's grade for that data set with their Target grade in the 'Grade Compare' column to the right. The grades will also be highlighted green if a student is above target and red if they are below (If they are on target, they will not be highlighted).
Option 2 / Using the On Track Feature
If the Sisra Administrator at your school has entered expected grades into the EAPs for the cohort, you will see the On/Above Track, Above Track, On Track, and Below Track columns displayed in the Grade Analysis - On Track - Qualifications report. If your EAPs have been created by using the students' targets as the EAP Baseline, you can simply use these columns to view which students are on, above, or below their targets.
For example, if we look at the Spanish AS qualification in the screenshot below, you can see that 4 students are showing as On/Above Track, 1 as Above Track, 3 as On Track, and 1 as Below Track.
If we then compare this to the figures we would see when using the first option (comparing the figures to the Target data set using the Compare with feature), you can see that the figures in the Above/On Track, Above Track, On Track, and Below Track columns are exactly the same as what is displayed in the >= Compare, > Compare, = Compare, and < Compare columns respectively.
