The DfE usually report on exam results based on the student information from the time of the Spring Census. In 2024, this took place on Thursday, 18th January. This defines:
- The specific students reported on (and number of students)
- The students’ corresponding filter values, e.g. SEN codes, Looked After etc.
We would therefore recommend that the student information of your KS4 and KS5 leavers cohorts in Analytics reflects this census.
Please note - We have been informed by a small number of schools that in some situations a student’s filter value could be subject to changes between the Census and September Checking Exercise. Below we have outlined how to reflect your Spring Census student data in Analytics, which can be amended if you find changes. |
Depending on how many changes you need to make, there are a couple of options available:
- Option 1 / Manually change your students in Analytics
If you have a small number of changes to make, you can use a student’s status to control whether they’re included in school performance measures or not. You can also manually edit a student’s individual filter values (such as SEN codes, etc.).
- Option 2 / Import a new student data file reflecting the Spring Census
If there are a larger number changes to make, then it may be easier to put together a file in Excel, based on when the spring census was collected and import this into Analytics.
Don't forget to check whether alternative provision students will be reported on at your school and reflect this appropriately in Analytics using the student’s status. |
Both of these options are covered in further detail in the articles linked for each key stage below:
