Excluding a student data filter from the reports for a specific cohort is a simple process. Filters can be excluded completely for an individual cohort, or just excluded from specific sections and/or features of the reports. This article will explain how to exclude student data filters from the KS3/4 and KS5 reports.
How do I Exclude Filters in KS3/4?
To view the student data filters for a cohort, click DATA > select Keystage 3/4 and cohort > STUDENTS > Report Options > then click on 'Edit'.
To exclude a filter completely from the reports, i.e. if you are an all-boys or all-girls school and you want to exclude 'Gender' from the reports, untick the box under the 'Include/Exclude Filter' column for the appropriate filter.
You can also untick the box in the appropriate column to exclude a filter just from certain sections or features of the KS3/4 reports, for example if you didn't want to show the KS2 Banding filter in the Student Detail reports, you could untick that box in the 'Student Detail' column.
Once you have finished making changes, click 'Save'. You need to republish Student Data after editing these settings to see changes in the reports. To republish, go to STUDENTS > Publish Students.
How do I Exclude Filters in KS5?
To view the student data filters for a cohort, click DATA > select Keystage 5 & cohort > STUDENTS > Report Options > then click on 'Edit'.
To exclude a filter completely from the reports, click the toggle in the 'Active' column so that it turns red.
To exclude a filter just from specific sections/features of the KS5 reports, first click on the 'Show Advanced Filter Options' toggle to show the different sections/features that the filters can be excluded from. You can then switch the filter to red in the appropriate columns.
Once you have finished making changes, click 'Save'. You need to republish Student Data after editing these settings to see changes in the reports. To republish, go to STUDENTS > Publish Students.
Remember (for both KS3/4 & KS5): Even if you have completely excluded a filter from the reports on this page, you must still include this as a column in all future imports for the cohort. It is possible to import a blank column if this is the case. If you no longer want to use a custom created filter (for any cohorts), then it may be best removing this from your Student Data Profile in CONFIG. |
What are the Advanced Filter Options?
Filter Breakdown
Setting a filter to be excluded from this feature means it will not appear in the Breakdown dropdown in the reports, which allows you to compare the filter values for a filter including up to 15 unique values.
Filters/Groups Level Report
This will exclude a filter from the Filters level in KS3/4 reports (Groups report in KS5 reports), which allows you to compare the filter values for a filter including up to 15 unique values.
Apply Filter (KS3/4 Only)
You can exclude a filter from the Filters tab in KS3/4 reports, which allows you to filter the reports by one or more individual filter values.
Key Characteristics
Excluding a filter from this feature means that it will not display in the Key Characteristics of the reports (displayed as a key icon in the KS3/4 reports), which allows you to view the count or percentage of each filter value for students in the selected report.
Student Detail
You can exclude a filter from the Student Detail report, which allows you to view the filter values for an individual student, as well as the grades they have achieved in that data set.
