This article will cover how the QN/EAP Mismatch warning icon can occur and the different ways in which you can resolve this.
Please note, this article only covers how to resolve QN mismatches. For more information on other warning icons on the Grades Management page, please see here - Checking Grades Management (Admin).
QN Mismatch
A QN mismatch occurs when a qualification has been matched to an EAP using an incorrect grade structure. This could be due to an incorrect QN/Qual Title selected, an incorrect EAP selected, or the wrong grade method selected in your EAP.
Below we have included a flow chart or walkthrough explanation, depending on which you find easier to follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Flow Chart
Walkthrough
1. Is your qualification matched to the correct qualification in the Qual Title column on the Matching page? (GRADES > Matching)
YES: Move on to step 2.
NO: In GRADES > Matching, click 'Edit' and enter the appropriate QN code in the Qual Title column. Select the correct qualification from the list and save your changes. This should resolve the issue, if not, continue to question 2.
2. Check the expected grading structure
In Matching (GRADES > Matching) click the magnifying glass.
In the pop out, you can see the grading structure you're using (A1) and the structure expected based on the QN code selected (A2). Continue to step 3.
3. Do you have the 'Expected Method Structure' shown in the pop out set up in your grade method? (CONFIG. > Grade Methods > KS5 Methods)
YES: Move on to step 4.
NO: You will need to create this as a grade method. To do this, click CONFIG. > Grade Methods > KS5 Methods and click 'Create'. You can search for the name of the structure shown in your pop out, and click through the steps to complete the setup.
Once set up, you will need to create a new EAP (covered in our article here) and then select this in GRADES > Matching > click 'Edit', in the EAP column. Your issue should now be resolved.
4. Do you have an EAP created with the expected method structure shown? (DATA > KS5 & cohort > KS4 / EAP > EAP / Baselines > EAP, check the Grade Method column).
YES: If you have an EAP suitable for use, with the correct grade method, click GRADES > Matching > 'Edit' and select this in the EAP column for the qualification. Once you save, the issue should be resolved.
NO: There are two options here, depending on whether you have an EAP for the qualification that you can edit, or whether you need a brand new EAP:
- If you cannot edit your existing EAP, you can create a brand new EAP with the expected grade structure shown in the pop out for you. You can create new EAPs in KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines > EAP. For more information, see here - KS5 - Creating EAPs (Admin).
- If you CAN edit your existing EAP, click KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines > EAP. Click on the EAP for the qualification and click 'Edit EAP'. Select the correct grade method structure in the Assessment Method drop down and click 'Save'. This should resolve the issue.
Note - If editing your EAP, we recommend checking this EAP is not used by any other qualifications which may be affected.
Please note, if you have made any changes to your EAPs, either by creating new ones or amending the grade method of existing ones, you will need to republish the KS4 / EAP data by going to KS4 / EAP > Publish KS4 / EAP before publishing/republishing your GRADES data.
