The Options tab provides additional options allowing you to filter your reports by different criteria, such as Faculty, Qualification, Class, Grade Type, etc.
Below we have outlined what each of the options here would do.
Faculty
The Faculty dropdown allows faculty leaders at your school to filter the reports by a group of
qualifications or department. For example, the English faculty selected below ensures that
only English qualifications are displayed, such as English Language and English Literature. Each qualification can be analysed separately or you can view a departmental summary at the bottom of the report.
Note: If filtering by a 'Science' faculty and your students take double 9-1 Science, you may also want to select 'All A8 Quals' in the Grade Type drop down, to group all science qualifications together in one table. This would then provide figures on the grades with equivalent Attainment 8 points across the qualifications.
Qualification / Class
These drop downs allow you to filter the reports by either a specific qualification or class, to analyse their performance. This will lock the Grade Type dropdown to select the grade method associated to that qualification.
Admin only: This is based on the grade method selected for that term within the selected EAP for that
qualification
Grade Type
The Grade Type allows you to filter the reports by qualifications using a specific grading system for the cohort, e.g. GCSE 9-1, GCSE 9-1 Double, BTEC First Award etc. The ‘All A8 Quals’ selection groups all qualifications using Attainment 8 points into one table, which is useful to include all official qualifications (based on the points awarded to each grade) in one table for an overall summary. |
GCSE / Non GCSE
The GCSE/Non-GCSE dropdown allows you to filter the reports based on either GCSE or Non GCSE qualifications, allowing you to analyse GCSE only or Non-GCSE only figures. Below we have outlined the types of qualification that would fall into each group:
-
GCSE - Any GCE qualifications, including AS Levels, regardless of whether they are awarded 9-1 or unreformed A*-G grades.
- Non GCSE - Any non GCSE qualifications, such as BTECs, L3 Assess Languages, L3 FSMQ, Cambridge Nationals etc.
KS2 Core
The KS2 Core dropdown is available on reports which display a ‘KS2 Prior’ column and allows you to filter by a specific KS2 Sub Level or Scaled Score. For example, selecting Scaled Score 100 on the Grade List report will ensure that only students with an average Scaled Score 100 are displayed. This will also update the key characteristics to only include those students (covered here).
Grade Search
The Grade Search is available on reports displaying a ‘Grade’ column and allows you to filter by a specific whole or sub grade. This can provide a useful list of students, which could be used to set intervention in place within a cohort. For example, you could filter the Grade List report to find students currently working at a grade 4 in Maths, but were targeted to achieve a grade 5 or above.
Using Compare allows you to filter the report for students achieving a particular grade in one data set and either the same or a different grade in another! |
In A8 Basket
The In A8 Basket dropdown allows you to filter the report by qualifications that are included [or could be*] in the student’s Attainment 8 baskets or by qualifications not included. This can be used to view figures such as Total Grades or Average Points for qualifications possibly included in student’s Attainment 8 scores.
[*] If a student has two or more grades worth the same points but there is only one slot available, both grades will count towards the ‘In A8 Basket’ figure. However, only the qualification that is first alphabetically will count towards any Attainment 8 calculations. In the case of such a tie, the qualification which takes up the slot makes no difference to Attainment 8 scores.
