If your qualification is not listed in the QN Title column when searching on the KS3/4 Matching page, this suggests it was made unapproved by the DfE before 2016 and would not count towards school performance measures. In this case, we've outlined steps below on how to check this and what to do if it is unapproved.
1 / Checking if your qualification is unapproved
You can double check if a qualification is unapproved by checking whether it is listed on the DfE's Qualifications and Discount Codes spreadsheet, linked in our article here - KS4 - Discounting and Early Entry Guidance, Approved Qualifications, Discount Codes and Performance Point scores.
To check, download the spreadsheet and open this in Excel. Select the tab relating to the year the students will be reported on. For example, if you’re working with 23/24 Leavers, you would need to search in the ‘2024’ tab of the spreadsheet.
If your qualification is NOT listed, it is unapproved and you can continue to Step 2 below. If it is listed, please pop onto Live Chat with your QN code, by clicking 'Support' within Analytics.
2 / Matching unapproved qualifications
If your qualification is unapproved and the QN code does not bring back a qualification to select, you can search for “Unapproved” in the QN Title column and select the appropriate option based on the type of qualification.
For example, if students are taking a short course Religious Studies qualification, you can enter “Unapproved Religious Studies” and select the appropriate unapproved qualification, allowing for comparisons to be made within the reports for the same Sisra subject area.
Unapproved qualifications must still be set to an EAP in the EAP column! |
