The aim of this article is to guide you through all the necessary steps to complete the set up of EAPs for KS5 cohorts. Click the links to the full articles for more information on each step (which opens them in a separate tab) if needed, as well as additional optional features that you can set up to get even more functionality from Analytics.
Within Analytics you must create EAPs (Expected Attainment Pathways) to define the grade method for each qualification.
However, an EAP can also be used to generate On Track analysis in the reports that allows you to measure the performance of students currently against admin defined expected grades to see if they are on track to meet these, or not. The EAP baseline chosen within an EAP is used as a starting point to group students onto their pathway.
Step 1 / Plan EAPs
To start, you will need to plan with your SLT how many EAPs you will need to create. For example, if you have different baselines for each qualification or different expectations for each qualification, then you’ll likely need to create one EAP per qualification. However, if multiple qualifications share the same baseline and expectations, you could use the same EAP for all of these qualifications. For example, creating an EAP for each faculty or grade type.
The main point to remember is that you need to have at least one EAP for each unique grade type used in a cohort.
- Planning EAPs - Before uploading baselines, plan out your EAPs so you know exactly how many you will need and what baselines you need for them.
Step 2 / Prepare and Upload EAP Baselines
Next you need to prepare and upload the baselines for your EAPs into KS4/EAP, and you should ensure your file contains all the appropriate baselines you wish to use in your EAPs.
- Preparing and uploading EAP Baselines - Once you know which baselines you want to use in your EAPs, you can upload them into KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines > Uploads.
Step 3 / Set up EAP Baselines
After uploading your baselines, you will need to set these up within KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines so Analytics knows what form these are, for example you may use target grades and so you would be able to use a KS5 grade method for this.
- Setting up EAP Baselines - You can set your baselines up in KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines > Baseline Management.
Step 4 / Create EAPs
You can now begin creating your EAPs, the main purpose of an EAP is to set the grade method that will be in use for your qualifications but they can also be used to produce optional On Track functionality in the reports, covered in Step 5 below.
- Creating EAPs - EAPs can then be created from your baselines in KS4/EAP > EAP/Baselines > EAP.
Step 5 / Define EAP Pathways (Optional)
If you are looking to make use of On Track functionality from your EAPs, then you can also define the EAP pathways within each of your EAPs. The expected grades entered would need to be decided upon as a school but these can then be compared with current attainment to see if students are on track to meet their expectation or not.
- Defining EAP Pathways - Looking to produce On Track functionality in the reports? You can enter expected grades into your EAPs.
Additional Functionality
Do you have students with the same baseline but you would expect them to be on different flightpaths? See our EAP Exceptions article for how to set this up.
Don't want EAP Colour Coding to show in a particular report? See our article on how to disable this.
