Exam remarks and resits are actioned differently within Sisra Analytics, as the DfE treat them differently when calculating headline figures. Below we have explained in more detail what to do when you are presented with remarks or resits.
Exam Remarks
If you have any remarked exam grades in KS3/4 or KS5, you will need to edit the student’s existing grade within Analytics.
To do this, go to DATA > select Keystage and Cohort > GRADES > Grades Management > select ‘Exams’ in the dropdown and click on the grade count for the qualification. Then, click ‘Edit Grades’, enter the student/s remark grade and click ‘Save’.
This will replace the student’s previous grade, then, once the reports have been re-published (GRADES > Publish Grades), they will count towards the Headline figures for that cohort as appropriate.
Exam Resits
If a student resits a qualification in KS3/4 or KS5, we would recommend adding or uploading the new grade/s. If a student has two grades for the same qualification in KS3/4, Analytics will count the grade with the earliest ‘Exams date’ towards school performance measures, in line with DfE guidance, and the best/highest grade towards individual student performance. If a student has two grades for the same qualification in KS5, Analytics will count the best/highest grade towards school performance measures, in line with DfE guidance, and towards individual student performance.
To manually add a grade, click GRADES > Grades Management > select ‘Exams’ in the dropdown, click on the grade count for the qualification, and click ‘Add Grade’.
In the pop-out window, select the student from the dropdown, enter the date for when the Exam was sat, enter their resit grade, and click ‘Add’.
Once the Exams data set has been republished (GRADES > Publish Grades), Analytics will count the appropriate grade towards the Headline measures, as explained above.
