Here is a list of commonly asked questions regarding the Key Filter Mapping setup for the Data Collaboration and MAT reporting:
Q: Why should I complete the Key Filter Mapping?
A: We will be producing Sisra collaboration data which you will be able to compare against your school’s data in reports. By telling us which of your school filters relate to Gender, Disadvantaged and SEN, we will be able to provide you with more in-depth analysis afforded by direct comparisons with like-for-like groups.
Additionally, if your school is part of a Multi Academy Trust and has access to the Juniper MAT Insights Dashboard, completing this setup is essential in order to view these filters across the MAT Reports.
Q: When would I use the ‘All of the students in this cohort are:’ option?
A: If you don’t have a school filter for one of the Sisra Key Filters because every student would have the same value, you can use this option. This could apply to single-sex schools or schools that deal specifically with only Disadvantaged pupils.
Q: Are you going to add more key filters in the future?
A: Our current selection is based on key figures which the DfE currently produce and which we believe most schools will already have set up as filters. We’re open to suggestions and if the DfE introduce any new metrics we will look at including those in future collaboration events.
Q: Do you include Guest students or Left School students?
A: Left School students are excluded from the process entirely as any uploaded grades would not be featured in published reports. Guest students will be excluded from the Sisra Data Collaboration as they don’t contribute towards the school’s Headline figures. However, you will still be able to compare your Guest students’ performance against collaboration data in the Grades reports.
Q: What are my options if I do not have a Disadvantaged filter?
A: We would recommend taking a look at of our article linked here for information on the eligibility criteria for this filter. If you do not have a suitable filter available, you would need to create this filter via CONFIG. > Student Data > Filter Management, add this filter into your Student Data Profile and import this as part of your student data file.
Q: I’m getting a warning message about filter mapping when I publish my Students
data – should I be worried?
A: This warning simply means that your Key Filter Mapping is not yet complete. You can still publish the STUDENTS area and the warning won’t have any effect in reports. However, unless you do complete the mapping, your data won’t be included in the Sisra collaboration data and you won’t be able to access that data in reports once it’s been made available to schools.
Q: How do I know if I’ve completed Key Filter Mapping correctly?
A: If all of the Sisra Key Filters have been successfully mapped, they’ll all be coloured green on the Key Filter Mapping page and you won’t see any warnings when you publish the STUDENTS area. However, Analytics can’t validate that your school filters have been mapped to the correct Sisra Key Filters so you should double-check your selections, just to be sure you’ve mapped the most appropriate school filters.
Q: I had previously completed Key Filter Mapping but now I’m seeing a menu icon
and a warning that it’s incomplete – why?
A: If you make any changes to student data, this could have an impact on the mapping if it involves new filter values – changes that would affect it include: importing or creating students with new filter values; editing a student’s filter values; or changing a student’s ‘On Roll’ status.
Q: I have a row within one of the filters that says ‘(None)’ – why is that?
A: This occurs when one or more students has a blank value for a particular filter. You can identify affected students by using the Export Students feature under STUDENTS > Cohort > Export Students and looking for blank cells in the Excel file produced.
