Publishing your grades data allows you to publish standalone data sets, such as Exams, Targets, Mocks etc. as well as individual assessment collections (e.g. your Predictions or Current grades), as well as being able to generate a Tracker and Flight Paths.
To publish your grades, click DATA > select KS3/4 and cohort > GRADES > Publish Grades.
Publishing Data Sets and Assessments ('Publish Individual Reports' tab)
By default you land on the Publish Individual Reports tab. Here you can select from the Data Sets or Assessments tabs, explained further below.
If you're looking for information on generating a tracker or flight paths, see our separate article - KS3/4 - Generating the Tracker and Flight Paths (Admin) |
Data Sets tab
To publish standalone data sets, such as your Exams, Targets, Mocks, etc., click on the Data Sets tab and click 'Publish' to the far right of the data set you'd like to publish.
You can then read from section 'Health tab' onwards of this article.
Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 tabs (ASSESSMENTS)
To publish an assessment collection, click on the tab for the relevant year, based on the term the data is associated to. For example, if you’re looking to publish Y11 Autumn, select the Year 11 tab.
This will display two slots per term, allowing you to publish up to two assessments per term, giving a total of six per year and 30 per cohort! Click ‘Publish’ next to the appropriate slot.
Next, select the assessment you'd like to fill the slot. You can then follow the next steps below.
Health tab
Once you have clicked Publish next to a data set or assessment, a pop out window will appear. We recommend checking the Health tab before proceeding and resolving any issues displayed.
For further information on resolving the issues flagged here, see our separate article - KS3/4 - Publishing Grades: Health tab issues (Admin)
Publishing tab
Once all issues have been resolved, you can click the Publishing tab and work through the options explained below.
- Report Note: Enter an optional annotation to the report, which will be displayed on the report homepage. For example, if there are missing grades and you want to inform staff.
- Report Status: Select a status for the report to be published with, which also affects who has access. Checked and Unchecked are available to all users, whereas Locked is only available to ‘Admins’ or those with access to Locked reports.
- Headlines: Use the toggle to determine whether you would like to produce DfE based headline figures, such as Attainment 8 and Progress 8 etc. This will trigger additional Headline/SBP Options, explained later in this article. If you’re working with a KS3 cohort that are not awarded official Attainment 8 points, or you do not report to the DfE, you could choose not to produce headline figures here.
- Data Collaboration: If you have opted in and completed the Sisra Data Collaboration set up, use the toggle to produce reports with collaboration features, and select the collaboration data you want to use. For example, ‘2023 Collab – Exams’ allows you to compare your figures with the anonymised Exam performance of 22/23 Leavers.
If this warning icon is displayed you will be unable to publish with collaboration data, as the setup is not complete. For more information on setting this up, see our article - How do we set up the Sisra Data Collaboration? (Admin) |
- Sisra Basic Projections (SBP): If you have entered expected grades within your EAPs, you can use this toggle to enable the project functionality within that report, and select a status. This will display projection figures for the report, estimating grades that students might achieve at the end of KS4. For more information on SBP, see our article - KS3/4 - Setting up Sisra Basic Projections / SBP (Admins)
Headline/SBP Options
If you have enabled the Headlines or Sisra Basic Projections toggle, three additional dropdowns will appear, explained below:
-
DfE Rules from: Select the appropriate year’s rules to be applied, which should be the year the students are reported on, or if this is not available, the most recent. At the time of writing, ‘2017’ can be used from 2016/17 to 2020/21, while the '2022' rules should be used for 2021/22 and later cohorts. This determines the performance table rules applied.
(Under 2022 DfE Rules, any grades uploaded with a 'Results Date' between 01/08/2021 and 31/08/2021 in Analytics will be treated as Teacher-Assessed grades and will not count towards Headline measures).
-
A8 Estimates: Select the appropriate year’s Attainment 8 estimates, used to calculate Progress 8:
- Leavers cohorts – We recommend selecting the Official Estimates (DfE) for the year the students are reported on, if released. If not available, schools may wish to consider publishing with Sisra Data Collaboration Estimates in the meantime, which are based on Analytics schools results who have opted in and may help to give you an indication of what your final figures may be.
-
Current cohorts – You could consider using the latest estimates currently available in advance of the DfE releasing the official estimates for the cohort.
- VA Estimates: Select the appropriate year’s estimates to be applied when calculating Value Added, as explained above for A8 Estimates.
Please note: the icon will display if the KS2 Baseline Type does not match the baseline type in use for the A8 or VA Estimates you have selected. In this case, Progress 8 and Value Added cannot be calculated, but you can still publish. |
Once you have completed all selections here, click ‘Publish’. A pop-up window will be displayed showing the progress of the publishing, which will turn green once complete.
You can then either click on ‘Publishing Complete’ to be taken straight to your report, click ‘Close’ and publish any further data sets or assessments.
We also recommend generating the tracker which allows you to track performance over time. For how to do this, see our separate article - KS3/4 - Generating the Tracker and Flight Paths (Admin) |
