Below we have included brief examples of grade methods for Combined Science (split 9-1 double), AS Levels, short course qualifications, and unreformed GCSE A*-G qualifications.
Double 9-1 Combined Science (Double Award/Split Grades)
If there are students taking the double 9-1 Combined Science qualification, you must create a separate grade method to cater for this. The 9-1 points included in this would be the same regardless of the cohort you’re working with (shown to the right). |
-
Step 1: Set up Grades Method
Select ‘Attainment 8 points’ and choose to include sub grades or not.
Select ‘This method does have split grades’ and click ‘Next’.
-
Step 2: Define Whole Grades
Enter the SINGLE whole grade, points, and entries shown on the table above into the relevant columns.
When setting up split grade methods, Analytics will automatically double/split grades based on your selection in Step 1. Click ‘Next’.
You can then complete Steps 3 - 6 of the grade method setup for the sub grades if you have selected this option.
-
Step 7: Confirmation
Double-check your grades, points, and entries are correct and click ‘Finish’.
GCE AS Level (A-E)
If there are students taking GCE AS Levels early in KS4, you must create an AS Level grade method to cater for these. We’ve listed the latest points and entries awarded for each grade in the table on the right. |
-
Step 1: Set up Grades Method
Select ‘Attainment 8 points’ and choose to include sub grades or not.
Select ‘This method does not have split grades’ and click ‘Next’.
-
Step 2: Define Whole Grades
Enter the whole grade, points, and entries, as shown on the table above, and click ‘Next’.
You can then complete Steps 3 - 6 of the grade method setup for the sub grades if you have selected this option.
-
Step 7: Confirmation
Check that your grades, points, and entries have been entered correctly, then click ‘Finish’.
Short Course Qualifications
If there are students taking short course qualifications, you must create a suitable grade method. If you will be uploading exam grades for these, regardless of whether they will count towards headlines, you will need to create this as an Attainment 8 points method. |
-
Step 1: Set up Grades Method
Select ‘Attainment 8 points' and choose to include sub grades or not.
Select ‘This method does not have split grades’ and then click ‘Next’.
-
Step 2: Define Whole Grades
Enter the whole grades, points, and entries and click ‘Next’.
This will ensure half points are shown in Student Detail report area; however, these will be standardised in appropriate columns e.g. Avg Points. For example, a grade 9 will be shown as 4.5 points in the Student Detail, but 9 points in the Avg Points on the Grades Overview report.
You can complete Steps 3 - 6 of the grade method setup based on the sub grades you have selected.
-
Step 7: Confirmation
Check that your grades, points and entries have been entered correctly and click ‘Finish’.
A*-G Qualifications (unreformed GCSEs)
If there are students taking unreformed GCSE A*-G qualifications, you must create a method to cater for these. We’ve listed the 2017/18 points and entries awarded for each grade in the table below. |
