This article aims to explain which figures are shown in the Eng/Mat Progress reports and how these are calculated. The Eng/Mat Progress reports allow you to view L2 progress figures for groups and students for both English and Maths resits.
Note: This report will only be available if your Sisra Administrator has imported KS4 Prior English and/or Maths baselines for the cohort. |
Eng/Mat Report
To access the L2 English & Maths Progress reports, click REPORTS > KS5 > select a cohort. Then, select the DATA SET in the dropdown and click ‘Eng/Mat Progress’.
Once in the reports, you can switch to a different report, view, or group at the top of the page, or use the DATA SET dropdown to switch to a different data set or assessment.
Column Headings
There are a number of options on specific column headers in the KS5 reports, allowing you to view more information on a specific figure. For example, click the chart icon to view the figures within selected columns in chart format. Click the 'i' icon to view information on how the figures in that column are calculated. Click the blue triangle icon for key information.
Reports
Please Note: By default, the Eng/Mat Progress report will show figures based on all students in the cohort. To view figures based on just the students counting towards the English or Maths Progress measure, you can use the ‘Update Student Inclusion’ button. |
The English Progress and Maths Progress reports will be available based on whether your Sisra Administrator has imported baselines for either Prior English or Maths for students in that cohort.
-
Students Included in English / Maths Progress: Count of students in each group that are included in the English / Maths Progress measure. At students level this highlights whether or not each student is included in that measure.
At the time of writing, students are included in English or Maths progress if they have a prior KS4 baseline of less than 4 challenge points (for 19/20 onwards) or less than 5 challenge points (for 18/19 and earlier cohorts) imported. For further information, please see the DfE’s Technical Guide , linked in our article here - KS5 - DfE's 16 to 18 accountability headline measures: technical guide. The summary row shows the total number of students included in English / Maths Progress.
-
Prior English / Maths: The challenge points value achieved by each student in an eligible KS4 Prior English / Maths qualification imported by your Sisra Administrator. For further information on Challenge Points, please see our article - FAQ - What are Challenge Points?
The summary row shows the overall average prior English or Maths challenge points for all students in the cohort, or for the students included in English/Maths Progress when ‘Update Student Inclusion’ is applied. -
Qualification: Shows the English or Maths resit qualification entered by each student at KS5, as set up by your Sisra Administrator.
-

The summary row shows the average challenge points achieved in English / Maths for all students in the cohort, or for the students included in English/Maths Progress when ‘Update Student Inclusion’ is applied. -
English / Maths Progress: The English / Maths Progress score achieved by each student. This is calculated by subtracting the prior challenge points (e.g. ‘Prior English’ or ‘Prior Maths’ column) from the KS5 challenge points (‘Challenge Points’ column). As per DfE guidance, negative progress is capped at -1.
Progress scores are still calculated for students who are included in the measure (i.e. those with Prior English or Maths of less than 4 challenge points from 19/20 onwards) but who do not have a grade at KS5. The summary row shows the overall average English / Maths progress for the cohort, or for the students included in English/Maths Progress when ‘Update Student Inclusion’ is applied.
-
Uncapped English / Maths Progress: Displays the uncapped English / Maths Progress score for each student, which is not officially reported on by the DfE.
The summary row shows the overall average uncapped English / Maths progress for the cohort, or for the students included in English/Maths Progress when ‘Update Student Inclusion’ is applied.
