This article aims to explain each report within the VA Area in the KS3/4 reports, the figures included, and how these are calculated.
The VA area allows you to view overall and individual student contribution towards Science, Languages, and Humanities EBacc Value Added measures and is calculated using grades counting towards school performance.

Overview Report
The VA Overview report displays EBacc Value Added figures for each individual student, as well as the overall cohort. This is available at either Filters or Students level.
- KS2 Prior: Average of KS2 subjects nominated as ‘Core’ by your Sisra Admin. For example, English Reading and Maths Scaled Scores should be used for 20/21 Leavers and later cohorts.
The summary row displays the average KS2 prior level for the cohort to 1 decimal place (2 decimal places for cohorts using NC Fine Levels). - Stu Count (Filters level): Number of students included in that filter value.
The summary row displays the total number of students in the cohort. - Sci / Lang / Hum Pts: Average of the two highest Attainment 8 scores for Science or highest scoring Language or Humanities qualification. At Filters level, this is averaged for each filter value.
The summary row displays the average of the students points for each element that are counting towards Value Added. - Sci / Lang / Hum Est: Value Added estimate used to calculate the respective VA. These are provided by the DfE and are based on the student’s KS2 Prior. At Filters level, this is averaged for each filter value.
The summary row displays the average VA estimate for each element, which is calculated using the estimate for each student contributing towards Value Added. - Sci / Lang / Hum VA: Value Added score achieved for each student. This is the respective Pts – Est. At Filters level. This is averaged for each filter value.
The summary row displays the average VA score, which is calculated using the VA score from each student contributing towards Value Added.
